I love ‘Before & Afters’. Because it shows you the opportunities a space can have, when you are willing to look beyond. I got a new request for an interior project, but unfortunately I have to wait a couple of weeks before I can get started. That’s why I am orienting myself and getting inspired on the web nowadays. This great Before & After shows the big change of a kitchen and dining place, as seen on A Beautiful Mess – one of my favorite blogs!
As the area only has windows on one side of the space, I think Laura did a great job with her use of colours, to brighten the space as much as possible. Cool, minty colours are not only working great to brighten a place (unlike brown colours), but they also enliven the space a lot! Talking about enliven, how about this spectacular black and white wall art! How cool is that!
Once again, the colour palette chosen provides a lot of opportunities to decorate the rest of the place with so many different (bright) colours – as shown with this table decoration.
Next thing: the kitchen. Lees verder
I’ve probably told you before about my love for Portuguese tiles. The colours, the patterns and the opportunities simply make me happy. So, for today: just some Portuguese inspiration. Enjoy!!
The next pictures will show you that these tiles suit in both modern and classic interiors. And that they can be used for many different purposes – both for floor as well as for wall finishes- in your bathroom, kitchen or hallway.

You may know that I am in the middle of a personal project. Which is a BIG project to be honest. Not only did we move all our belongings from Spain to the Netherlands. My beloved family reminded me that we stored at least 20 more boxes and some furniture at their place as well. So, you can imagine that the entire house is full of boxes and that nothing I am looking for is in the right place.
The only space that looks more or less organized is the kitchen. Not one box there at all.
So, to keep up the spirit that maybe the rest of the house will feel like home again soon… just some pics of the progress to remind me that everything will be okay : )
Ps. What do you think about my tiny little Christmas Star Plant… Cute right?
Lately, I spent some time searching Swedish apartments (not for myself!) and I must confess: I am impressed. Impressed by beautiful broker sites and most of all: impressed by the ingenuity of Swedish designers. I found so many one room apartments with such a great use of space. It can be quite hard to divide one space into a living area, bedroom and dining as well; but Swedish designers seem to have a talent for this. I also found some beautiful kitchens where great stylish dining areas are realized in such small spaces:
